Accessibility

How to make this site easier to read, and what to do if something gets in your way.

Last updated 9 September 2026

The short version

We want anyone to be able to use this site, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or need bigger text.

There's an Accessibility button in the bottom left corner of every page. It lets you make the text larger, switch to high contrast, underline every link, and turn off animation. Your choices are saved on your own device and stay set next time you visit.

If you hid the button

On a phone or tablet you can tap the X, or Hide button, to get the Accessibility button off your screen. We remember that on this device, so it stays hidden next time.

The Accessibility button is showing on this device.

Either way, everything else on this page still applies. Your browser zoom and your phone's own text size settings work whether the button is showing or not.

What the button does

  • Text size. Normal, Large or Larger. Everything on the page scales together, so nothing gets cut off.
  • High contrast. Black text on white, with a visible border around every field and button.
  • Underline links. Every link gets an underline, so you're not relying on colour to spot one.
  • Reduce motion. Turns off animation and smooth scrolling. If your device is already set to reduce motion, we pick that up automatically.

Your browser's own zoom works too, and so does the text size setting on your phone.

What we've built in

The settings above sit on top of a site that is meant to work without them:

  • Every form field has a real label, not just grey text inside the box
  • You can reach and use everything with a keyboard, and you can always see where you are
  • There's a skip link at the top of each page that jumps straight to the form
  • Text contrast meets or beats WCAG 2.2 AA. We checked every colour pair
  • Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels, so they're easy to hit
  • No puzzle CAPTCHA. We use a hidden field and a timing check instead, so nothing is asked of you
  • Errors are written out in words, never shown by colour alone
  • The page reflows to 320 pixels wide and at 200% zoom without breaking
  • Images that carry meaning have alt text. Decorative ones are hidden from screen readers

What we don't use

We don't use an accessibility overlay or a plug-in that claims to fix accessibility automatically. Those tend to get in the way of screen readers, and they don't fix the underlying page. We'd rather build the page properly and give you real settings.

Where we stand

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

Two known gaps: the Google map is a third-party embed and we don't control how accessible it is, so the full address, directions link and parking details are always written out beside it. And some PDFs we may add later might not be tagged properly. Ask us and we'll send you the content in another format.

Under the AODA

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act requires websites to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA for organizations with 50 or more employees. We're smaller than that, so the requirement doesn't apply to us. We've built to the newer WCAG 2.2 AA anyway.

If something doesn't work

Tell us and we'll fix it. Call 905.844.0872, or email info@qewandthirdlinedental.ca with the page and what went wrong.

We'll get back to you within two business days. If you'd rather have information in large print, or read out to you over the phone, just ask.

The same goes for your visit. If you need extra time, a quieter room, someone with you, or anything else, tell us when you book and we'll arrange it. There's free parking on site and the entrance is on the ground floor.
